“Scientists discover the world that exists; Engineers create the world that never was.”
(Theodore von Kármán)
Born and raised in the heart of the Black Forest in Germany, a relocation from Switzerland in 2023 has witnessed my arrival in the UK as a Northumbrian.
As a Project Manager I am primarily contracted by and partnered with a German company in Munich and a Swiss company in Davos which is where I have spent 6 years with my British wife and 5 year old daughter before moving to the north-east.
Following a joinery apprenticeship and subsequent site work, I secured an advanced qualification as a construction engineer specialized in interior construction.
Based in Bavaria, I worked as a Project Manager for a reputable dry wall building company and interior design specialist involved in 3M€ projects for the pharamceutical industry, hospitals and schools. During that time I developed a wide knowledge of interior construction and design, fire-protection and soundproofing / noise reduction systems.
After years in the dry wall building industry, I opted to return to my roots with an innovative Joinery as a Project Manager.
I moved from Germany to Switzerland and a job in the Swiss Alps introduced me to a new way of working; post and beam facades, modular building, hybrid buildings, carpentry, sustainability and the possibility to break new ground with innovation is a brilliant outlook.
Hopefully long partnerships and many milestone projects with my partners will follow but there is always the possibility of exciting new collaborations and projects. My dream? New materials, new ways to build, innovation, less carbon, more timber, the beauty of old barns waiting to be converted into energy efficient buildings and support on the route to more efficient way of building in the UK.
I look forward to playing a role in one of your projects.
Kind regards
Philipp forster
I`ve been lucky to be a part of many interesting and innovative projects:
The construction industry is changing and the majority of housebuilders try to build in a more energy efficient way. Solarpanels and airsource heatpumps get installed, people talk about triple glazing, ... but there is still a long way to go to close the gap to other European countries.
The UK standards are low and the way many developers are building houses should be reconsidered to make a home efficient on a higher level.
Not only the energy resource, but also the properties of the building envelope and the building as a whole must be considered.
Cold bridges due to uninsulated pipes having a massiv impact on the performance of the houses heat-storring-abilities as well as a lack of missing insulation and building materials able to store warmth more longer. A cold draft behind the "airtight" layer of plasterboards is as inefficient as non-thermally seperated thresholds at doors.
Unfortunately, poor quality, also related to weak regulations and a lack of quality control are leading to significant damage, which is why professionals and managers need to be sensitized and trained.
The future will bring U-Values, blower-door test results under 3.0 or even under 1.5 - but this can only be realized with higher standards, further trainings and the will of the industry.
Even a small step brings us closer to our goal. Us? It should be our goal to make homes more efficient and cosy to enjoy a newbuild from the start and the first energy-bill.
I would like to be a supportive part on the way to a more energy-efficient design.
- design and layout
- very high levels of insulation
- extremely high performance windows with insulated frames
- airtight building fabric
- thermal bridge free construction
- a mechanical ventilation system with highly efficient heat recovery
Please get in touch and we can discuss my role in your innovative way to a sustainable future in the country.

Modern slavery and the abduction of minors is one of the worst crimes - this is why I support the Christliche Ostmission based in Switzerland.
Every year over two and a half million people worldwide become victims of human trafficking. The Christliche Ostmission fights against this crime on various levels: It is committed to prevention and helps to free and protect victims and give them a way back to life.
